Internet Rights: Rapid Response Network

Threatened Site: Middle East Transparent (France)

Original Website Address: www.metransparent.com

Threat Status: Active threats

Summary of threat

Website blocked by Saudi authorities since October 6, 2004. Saudi readers can no longer accede to website.

Violation of APC Charter of Internet Rights

This action violates freedom of expression. Saudi liberal dissidents, who are forbidden from writing in their country, and some of whom have been in prison for the last 7 months, use my website to express their opinions and to call for an open and fair trial for political detainees.

Additional information (if any supplied)

I have had, since saturday (October 9, 2004) to put into service an alternative website (www.metransparent.net) dedicated to Saudi readers. This alternative website (a copy of the original) could in turn be blocked by Saudi authorities in the coming days.

Mirrors activated by the APC Rapid Response Network
